When the last day comes: when tape scratch, waver, fizzle and the laws of entropy leave nothing but the white noise of electronic snow, we ride the waves of David Larcher’s VIDEØVOID – TEXT into the analog afterlife. Make no mistake, this is not heaven, it is the beyond. There may be a square pixel floating around in here somewhere, but mainly we watch the brave new world of digital perfection from a noisy remove.

In 1994 thought about changing the name of the association. Video was no longer the key medium according to the media theory in art. But we retained the somewhat out-of-date name and from today’s point of view I think that was the right decision. A stronger interconnection with an aesthetic was enabled which could be experienced due to video‘s (temporary) triumph in the museums. Unlike any other institution, Videonale reflected the multifaceted development of the genre video – from the medium of alternative visual language through to a filmic narrativity, an abstract moment or an ambient-video.
