In all ihrer Lieblichkeit. Völlig makellos. Engelsgleich. Kalt? Nass? Ich fühle Kälte. Trotz Kleidung friere ich. Wie er wohl schmeckt? Bitter? Sauer? Mein Mund ist trocken. Was ist wohl die Farbe des Todes? Schwarz? Oder doch etwa weiß? Wie oft leben wir? Wie oft sterben wir? Wie viel ist gewonnen? Wie viel ist verloren?

Interview:

» 1. Your work has been chosen among over 1200 festival entries to participate in VIDEONALE.15. In which context do you prefer to present your work, festival/cinema context or exhibition? And what kind of difference does the respective mode of presentation mean for you / your work?

I am interested in the event and its documentation. The exhibition or showing marks the moment when the artwork has been tamed. It won´t escape anymore, and people can look at it and discuss about it. Though, in confrontation with the spectator, the work will never be same. I like this: that the moments of presentation align, documenting different states in my process as well as in the reception of my work. And for this, I like to collect feedback of immediate reactions.

» 2. How do you see “The Call of the Wild“ reflected in your work presented at VIDEONALE.15?

I have discovered a new species. Watching them for 18 days was exciting, to analyze, how they move, how they react to the camera and how they communicate. They have a completely different sense of time, but I did not have the right technical equipment yet to document this naturally. So I had to fake it with the means of video editing.

» 3. Can you describe your intention for doing art in one sentence?

To make art means to write history, and I like to add a critical perspective.

» 4. In which way is the video medium an excellent possibility to express your intended subjects, especially in contrast to other media you use? Or do you work exclusively with video?

Video is a time generating and time consuming medium and since I am interested in the ideas of spending time of others it is the most curious tool for me to work with. However, painting and drawing are part of it, as they show the thinking processes of deleting and overwriting more evidently.

» 5. If you have the chance to ask the visitors of the VIDEONALE.15 exhibition questions about your own work, what would be your question?

What interests you in my work?
