Mensch kneten. Teig massieren. Would you like a piece of cake?

Interview:

» 1. Your work has been chosen among over 1200 festival entries to participate in VIDEONALE.15. In which context do you prefer to present your work, festival/cinema context or exhibition? And what kind of difference does the respective mode of presentation mean for you / your work?

Showing films should be simple. The viewer remains static and needs conditions that enable focus from start to finish, especially when the work contains a narrative. Showing sculpture however, is ultimately different, because the viewer is required to move in relationship to the static physical work. When a practice consists of several media, a natural contradiction occurs within the question of how to show it together. This contradiction is interesting and perhaps may be fully examined only in the broad, intellectual and physical context of contemporary visual art.

» 2. How do you see “The Call of the Wild“ reflected in your work presented at VIDEONALE.15?

„A Hidden Quiet Pocket“ presents a casual dialogue between two female characters, a masseuse and her client. It slowly shifts, however, from talking about the banalities of real-estate evaluation, into a detailed and orgasmic discussion of different types of new age, health-aware cuisine. Mixing real-estate language with professional food jargon and motives of cannibalism concocts an exciting melange that teeters on the brink of pornographic doom.

» 3. Can you describe your intention for doing art in one sentence?

My condition is somewhere between clown and hermit.

» 4. In which way is the video medium an excellent possibility to express your intended subjects, especially in contrast to other media you use? Or do you work exclusively with video?

My work is a form of zeugma in the sense that the ideas apply on different media, video is an important one of them. Obviously digitalism has changed everything over the last few years. Working with video naturally enables a relationship to this social and technological phenomenon.

» 5. If you have the chance to ask the visitors of the VIDEONALE.15 exhibition questions about your own work, what would be your question?

How many characters did you notice in the work?
