Wenn der Jüngste Tag kommt: wenn Bänder zerkratzen, flackern, zischen und das Gesetz der Entropie nichts weiter als Rauschen und Schnee hinterlässt, reiten wir auf der Welle von David Larchers VIDEØVOID – TEXT in das analoge Leben nach dem Tod. Mach’ keinen Fehler, dies ist nicht der Himmel, es ist das Jenseits. Vielleicht schwebt irgendwo ein viereckiges Pixel umher, aber wir beobachten die schöne neue Welt der digitalen Perfektion lieber aus einer verrauschten Distanz.

In 1994 thought about changing the name of the association. Video was no longer the key medium according to the media theory in art. But we retained the somewhat out-of-date name and from today’s point of view I think that was the right decision. A stronger interconnection with an aesthetic was enabled which could be experienced due to video‘s (temporary) triumph in the museums. Unlike any other institution, Videonale reflected the multifaceted development of the genre video – from the medium of alternative visual language through to a filmic narrativity, an abstract moment or an ambient-video.
