Out of his window, in the years 1978 to 1999, the artist watches and comments on the coming and going in front of his apartment block in Lódź. FROM MY WINDOW mirrors the political and social changes in Poland over the last 20 years. With his dry comments on individual figures, Robakowski casts an ironical light on the customs and morals of the turnaround in Poland. At the same time, the video camera’s gaze is an unpleasant reminder of an all too curious neighbour or of the state security service. In the end we do not know whether the stories being told are true or invented.
